The Ukrainian army warned this Wednesday that Russian forces have at least seven warships deployed in the Black Sea, two of which have about 16 Kalibr missiles.
The Ukrainian Navy indicated that “about seven enemy ships are in combat mode, some of them are armed with operational-tactical missiles,” according to his Telegram account.
Ukraine said that Russian forces they continue to control communications in the Sea of Azov, where they own six ships and several boats. In addition, they have five Kalibr missiles in the Mediterranean, which are highly accurate and can be mounted on ships, submarines and other vessels.
Large-scale Russian bombardments of Ukrainian cities such as Kyiv, Lvov and Zaporizhia resulted in the deaths of several people last Monday, and the population sought protection in shelters set up in the city.
“On the 229th day (of the war), they are trying to destroy us and wipe us off the face of the earth. Completely. Destroy our people who sleep at home in Zaporozhye. Kill people who go to work in Dnipro and Kyiv,” the Ukrainian president summed up, Vladimir Zelensky.
Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny said on his Telegram channel that the Russians launched 75 missiles, of which 41 were neutralized by their air defense systems.
For his part, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called his Ukrainian counterpart Dimitro Kuleba to express his support for Russia’s “terrible attacks”.
“I just spoke to Dimitro Kuleba renew support USA a Ukraine after the horrific attacks on the Kremlin this morning. We will continue to provide economic, humanitarian and security assistance so that Ukraine can defend itself and protect its people,” Blinken wrote on Twitter.
UN condemns ‘illegal annexation’ of Russia
The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution condemning Russia’s “illegal annexation” of four Ukrainian territories, inflicting a new diplomatic defeat on Moscow that vetoed a similar resolution in the Security Council in late September.
The resolution, presented by Albania itself and Ukraine and supported by some seventy countries, was approved by 143 votes to five (Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua and Syria) with 35 abstentions, among them China, Bolivia, Algeria, Pakistan, Honduras or Mali.
Titled “Territorial Integrity of Ukraine: Protecting the Principles of the Charter of the United Nations”, the resolution refers to “illegal actions”, referring to the referendums held by Russia in Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk and Zaporozhye 23 min. September 27, “they have no legal force (…) and in no way change the status of these regions in Ukraine.”
