The General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) adopted a resolution condemning Russia’s illegal annexation of the territory of four regions of Ukraine. This was discussed on Wednesday, October 12, Wednesday, in the organization’s meeting broadcast.

This resolution rejects any changes in the status of Ukraine’s regions, calls on states, international organizations and UN agencies not to recognize any changes in the status of Ukraine’s regions and requires Russia to immediately and without conditional on canceling its decisions regarding the status of the regions of Ukraine and immediately, completely and unconditionally withdrawing all its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
143 out of 193 members of the UN General Assembly voted in favor of the resolution, 35 countries abstained, and five voted against: Russia, Nicaragua, Syria, North Korea, Belarus.

It should be noted that before that, a draft of such a resolution was considered by the UN Security Council, but Moscow used its veto right and blocked it. No one in the General Assembly has that right.
It will be recalled that on September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the illegal annexation of four regions of Ukraine: Kherson, Zaporozhye, Lugansk and Donetsk. But the enemy army did not completely control any of them.
