The attacks disrupted access to websites that report traffic and waiting times at airports.
Several major US airports have come under cyberattacks by the Russian Federation. On Monday, October 10, ABC News reports.
“More than a dozen sites were affected by the hack, which was carried out by the pro-Russian hacker group Killnet,” said John Hultquist, head of intelligence analysis at Mandiant.
Due to the attack, the websites of the following airports did not work:
-
Des Moines International Airport;
-
Los Angeles International Airport;
-
Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
According to media reports, currently, airport systems cannot manage air traffic, internal communications and coordination of airlines are not working. Experts report that the Killnet group has stepped up its activity since the start of the war in Ukraine, targeting Ukrainian allies and US government websites.
Earlier it was reported that Russia planned to carry out a massive cyber attack on the objects of the Ukrainian energy industry. The Russians also plan to increase the number of DDoS attacks on institutions in Poland and the Baltic countries.
