A man endowed with the security and long wardrobe of Queen Elizabeth, Angela Kelly opened the curtain on one of the darkest days of the monarch’s life: at the funeral of her beloved Prince Philip.
Kelly, who has worked with the Queen for nearly 30 years, wrote that she was with Elizabeth after the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh last year. Filippo died on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99.
“I helped him remove his coat and hat, and he didn’t spill,” Kelly wrote in an updated version of her book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Platinum Jubilee Edition, in which she shared an excerpt . . Bye! magazine on Monday. “Then the queen entered her living room, closed the door behind her and left her alone in her thoughts.”
He also provided information about the crew present when the duke’s coffin was placed in a Land Rover, which he replaced to run like a mess.
“You can see the sadness on everyone’s face to see a great and respected person on his or her last trip,” Kelly said of staff. “I’m sure the queen is what they think because they know she has lost her husband and best friend. The nation shared their pain and their hearts were dedicated to His Majesty ”.
“I’m sure some of the prayers said were from those who hadn’t prayed before,” Kelly added. “I think these prayers were offered to the queen to keep her steadfast in the coming months when she will be left without her husband.”
Philip’s funeral was limited to 30 people due to the limitations of the corovirus pandemic, but was recently honored by a thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey, which includes a wider audience.

Kelly – whose official title is “Her Majesty the Queen Personal Assistant, Counselor and Curator (Jewelery, Signs and Wardrobe)” – had the unparalleled opportunity to see Philip and the Queen together during the pandemic. He was one of the few employees quarantined during the lockdown along with Philip and Elizabeth.
Katia Shipster, Chief Editor of Harper NonFiction, A statement was released on the new edition of Kelly’s book earlier this month. Shipster said it was “updating the content of the book following unprecedented events in the past two years.”
“It tells the story of the royal balloon, as well as the time it took Angela and the royal family to ensure the safety of our monarch,” the publisher added.
