On Saturday morning, an explosion occurred on the bridge across the Kerch Strait that connects illegally occupied Crimea to the Russian mainland.
The repair of the Kerch Bridge section of the road that collapsed as a result of the explosion will take several months, according to Minna Torkkeli, director of the Department of Technology and Environment of the Finnish Railways Agency, on Saturday, October 8, writes YLE.
According to him, if the Russians make the lengths of the bridge to the right size, the process will be faster.
“But I imagine they don’t have beams in different sizes either,” Torkkeli said.
Russia said train traffic on the bridge would resume today.
“I must say that it seems like a quick operation, but it is possible,” the expert assessed the statement.
Torkkeli said that if the railway bridge was still made of steel, there would definitely be damage. However, he did not rule out fixing the main pillars of the bridge.
Earlier, the invaders announced the resumption of traffic on the Crimean bridge.
It will be remembered that this morning, October 8, a huge fire broke out on the Crimean bridge. The Russian Federation said the ignition of seven fuel tanks of a train allegedly caused a truck to explode.
