The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that this statement may have been dictated by the Russian side.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus handed Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Kizim a diplomatic note, saying Kyiv was allegedly planning to strike Belarus. This was announced on Saturday, October 8, by Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, on Facebook.
He emphasized that the position of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry is provocative.
“We categorically reject the latest insinuations of the Belarusian regime. We do not exclude that the presentation of a diplomatic note may be part of the plan of the Russian Federation to carry out a provocation and further accuse Ukraine,” the message said.
Nikolenko urged the Belarusian people not to give in to provocations, and also pointed out that official Minsk is only fulfilling Moscow’s whims.
“The Belarusian authorities must stop following the whims of the Kremlin and immediately stop supporting Russia in carrying out its aggression against Ukraine,” Nikolenko said.
It will be remembered that the Minister of Defense of Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, said that the country’s troops, including the Russian army, are “ready to defend the Union State.”
Earlier, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered to “conscript people to military registration and enlistment offices without violence and noise.”
