Instead of Russian cities and “Komsomol” ships will now carry the names of Ukrainian settlements associated with shipping.
In Ukraine, they decided to de-Russify part of the fleet as part of the process announced in August. This was reported by the General Director of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, Dmitry Moskalenko.
“Almost all of our transportation vehicles are named after the Soviet era. Some are named after Russian cities and prominent figures of the communist regime,” the report said.
Now they decided to change their name. According to Moskalenko, instead of Russian cities and “Komsomol members” there will now be names of Ukrainian communities associated with shipping.
