The nuclear sharing program is part of NATO’s nuclear deterrence policy.
The United States of America is not currently negotiating with Poland over the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory. This was announced on Thursday, October 6, at a briefing by Deputy Representative of the US State Department Vedant Patel.
“Regarding this particular request, we are not aware of it or that it has been violated,” Patel said.
He also added that the US has no plans to deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of NATO member states that joined the Alliance after 1997.
At the same time, he stressed that Poland is an important ally of the United States within the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Earlier, Andrzej Duda announced that Poland was in talks with the United States about participating in a nuclear sharing program to counter the growing threat from Russia.
It will be recalled that on September 21, in his video message to the Russian people, Putin said that all means of destruction, including nuclear, would be used in the event of a threat to Russia’s territorial integrity and that “it is not a bluff.”
The day before, NATO announced that it had prepared a plan in the event of a nuclear strike. They noted that they are prepared for any development of the situation and are ready to act quickly and harshly.
