Law enforcement officials detained a resident of the Odessa region, who tried to sell 78 kg of metal mercury. This was announced on Wednesday, October 5, by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It was noted that the man kept mercury at the place of residence and was looking for a buyer among friends, as well as residents of the southern region of Ukraine at a price of $ 1,000 per 1 kg.
He was arrested while selling mercury for $60,000. Two metal containers and a glass bottle containing poison were confiscated. He was sent to conduct a specialized study.
It can be recalled that SBU officials stopped the smuggling of metallic mercury from Transcarpathia to the EU. An alien aims to obtain a highly toxic substance for money.
It was also reported that a batch of Russian mercury was seized in Transcarpathia.
