Russian Gazprom has warned Moldova to stop gas supplies from October 20 if Moldovagaz does not pay the debt for previously supplied gas. This was reported by Gazprom’s press service.
“Gazprom reserves the right to completely stop deliveries in case of violation of the obligation to pay for gas until October 20, 2022, as well as the right to terminate the contract at any time due to a serious violation of the deadlines for termination of an agreement. to pay the historical debt of JSC Moldovagaz. In the future, any Request from the Moldovan side, involving changes in the contractual terms, will be made only in the form of appropriate additions to the contract,” said statement.
According to Moldovagaz, since October 1, Gazprom has reduced natural gas supplies to Moldova by almost 30%, explaining this by technical problems.
As a reminder, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said earlier that Russia may stop gas supplies to the country from October 1. They said that Moldova should switch to a different formula for calculating the price under the current contract with Gazprom, and the price will be lower.
