German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht arrived in Odessa, where she announced the start of deliveries of the IRIS-T air defense system.
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht arrived in Ukraine for the first time since the start of a full-scale war. This was reported by Welt.
The minister arrived in Odessa, where he announced the start of deliveries of the IRIS-T air defense system.
In Odessa, he inspected the German Gepard air defense system, which was previously transferred to Ukraine, and noted that these weapons will help our military protect infrastructure from Russian air attacks.
In a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, Lambrecht said that the first unit of the IRIS-T air defense system, which Germany promised to transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will arrive in Ukraine “in the coming day.”
“The main point now is these attacks, which are aimed at the civilian population and are used for intimidation and killing, so that these air attacks can be resisted,” the minister insisted.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov discussed with Christine Lambrecht on Saturday additional tools to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
“I received my German colleague Christine Lambrecht in southern Ukraine. Frau Minister brought good news and additional tools to strengthen the Ukrainian army,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter on Saturday night.
He emphasized that the parties discussed the current geopolitical and security situation.
