An adviser in the Office of the President expressed the opinion that victory over the enemy was possible even before joining the Alliance.
Russia’s war against Ukraine may end before the state of Ukraine goes through the bureaucratic procedures to join NATO. This is what Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak said on the air of the All-Ukrainian news telethon on Friday, September 30.
Ukraine’s application to join NATO will not affect the war against Russia and what is happening in the occupied territories, he assured.
According to him, the application itself symbolizes the beginning of a new era for Ukraine and the development of a security architecture.
“Once Ukraine finalizes the war correctly, once Russia is defeated, after that there will be no obstacle for us to join NATO,” the official said.
He also answered the question of whether NATO will go to war against Russia if Ukraine is accepted into the Alliance.
“I think the war could end a little faster than if we went through all the bureaucratic procedures,” Podolyak said.
Ukraine can join NATO almost simultaneously with the liberation of the territories to avoid the occurrence of major wars in Europe in the future, added the adviser to the Office of the President.
Podolyak also expressed hope that applying to join NATO would help speed up arms supplies to Ukraine.
