Germany will never recognize Russian “referendums” on the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine. This was stated by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in telephone conversations with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. This was announced on Wednesday, September 28, by the press service of the German government.
“On the situation in the illegally occupied territories of Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Russia, the Chancellor stressed that Germany will never recognize the results of fictitious “referendums,” the statement said.
During the talks, the parties touched on the issues of the military-political and economic situation in Ukraine. They also discussed further support in the country’s reconstruction framework.
According to Scholz, Germany will continue to provide Ukraine with political, financial and humanitarian support, as well as help in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The same applies to the supply of weapons.
Earlier in Germany, they explained how Scholz would transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine. In particular, Germany will be able to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine if it creates a consortium of countries that have this armored vehicle in their arsenal.
