The IMF and the World Bank have pledged their support. In October, the IMF mission to Ukraine will begin its work.
Ukraine expects this year to receive $2.8 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and $500 million from the UK for gas purchases. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on September 27.
According to him, the IMF and the World Bank assured Ukraine of their support.
“Very important talks were held with the head of the IMF, Kristina Georgieva, and the leadership of the World Bank, Mr. Trotsenburg and Ms. Bjerde. In fact, these are the two largest international financial organizations. And we are confident that they will will continue to support Ukraine,” the prime minister said.
Shmygal also noted that the IMF mission in Ukraine should start working in October.
It was previously reported that the IMF will provide Ukraine with an additional $1.4 billion, along with the preparation of a new loan program.
