Three suspects were reportedly detained on Friday, September 23. A day later, the fourth was also detained.
“At the request of Belgium, the Dutch police detained a fourth suspect in connection with the preparation for the kidnapping of Belgian Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborn,” the statement said.
A 21-year-old man was reportedly arrested on the street in The Hague.
Last week, a car with Dutch license plates was found near the minister’s house in Kortrijk, containing weapons and bottles of petrol.
Some media, citing sources, reported that it could be an attempted kidnapping. At the same time, the threat is “leaving the drug environment”, they allegedly want to exchange the minister for a criminal who was previously in prison. It is known that the police do not rule out that the customers are “drug lords abroad.”
Quickenborn is under strict surveillance. Belgium has already asked the Netherlands to hand over all four arrested men.
Earlier, Estonian President Alar Karis admitted that he was abducted by gypsies when he was a child. He admits that he could be a gypsy baron now.
