Japan’s Cabinet of Ministers approved new sanctions against the aggressor country, announced at the G7 meeting.
Japan increased sanctions against the Russian Federation over the invasion of Ukraine, banning the export of goods related to chemical weapons to Russia. This is what Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers Hirokazu Matsuno said, Reuters reports.
Japan also added 21 Russian entities, such as science labs, to the list of current export bans, according to a government statement released after the Cabinet meeting. It officially endorsed the new sanctions measures announced by the Foreign Minister at the G7 meeting last week.
In addition, the report said that Tokyo is “deeply concerned” about the possibility of using nuclear weapons.
It will be recalled that Russia concluded the agreement with Japan during a simplified visit to the South Kuriles. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi called the decision “totally unacceptable.”
