Washington will impose new restrictions in response to Russia’s “votes” on occupied regions, says Jake Sullivan.
The United States will announce new sanctions against Russia in the coming days. This is Washington’s response to the holding of a “referendum” by the Russian invaders in the occupied territories of Ukraine. This is what Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan said in an interview with NBC, released on Sunday, September 25.
“The leaders of the G7 countries, in a statement on Friday after the start (of the referendums – ed.), confirmed that there will be consequences, in particular additional enhanced sanctions, including sanctions against those legal entities and companies outside of Russia that support the referendums,” he said.
According to him, in the coming days “the United States will publish relevant information.”
“This will only further our efforts to provide Ukraine with weapons and military equipment,” the official insisted.
US authorities will continue to facilitate the supply of Soviet-era tanks from other NATO countries, as well as other weapons, to Ukraine, Sullivan concluded.
It should be noted that, according to journalist Rikard Jozwiak, the new package of EU sanctions against Russia will not include restrictions on oil prices.
We add that the head of foreign diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said: the foreign ministers of the EU countries agreed to prepare new sanctions against Russia.
