Ukraine received a NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system from the United States. This was said by the head of state Volodymyr Zelensky, CBS reports.
The President thanked the American leader Joseph Biden and the US Congress for this air defense. However, he added that the systems received are still not enough to close the airspace from Russian missiles.
“I want to thank US President Joe Biden and Congress for getting NASAMS. These are air defense systems. But, believe me, it’s nowhere near enough,” Zelensky stressed.
NASAMS is a mobile Norwegian anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to combat maneuvering aerodynamic targets at low and medium altitudes.
This air defense system was developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace together with the American company Raytheon.
It will be remembered that on September 31, it was known that the United States will provide Ukraine with two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems.
