The head of the German government claims that Berlin is afraid of the escalation of the conflict between Russia and NATO.
Germany is not sending tanks to Ukraine for fear of escalating the conflict between Russia and NATO. This is what German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with The Times, published on Sunday, September 25.
“This is a very dangerous war. We support Ukraine. We do it in a way not to bring the situation to a state of war between Russia and NATO, because that would be a disaster,” assured the head of the government of German. .
He also added that Germany is “really doing a lot” to help Ukraine.
“We supplied the Ukrainians with a large mass of very effective weapons,” the official said.
The publication, in turn, noted that Scholz “has gone too far” because, at the beginning of the Russian invasion, his government offered Ukraine five thousand helmets and a field hospital.
However, it took the threat of a parliamentary vote before he approved any delivery of heavy weapons months later, the media added.
It should be noted that Olaf Scholz had previously said that it was impossible to accept peace on the Kremlin’s terms.
In addition, earlier he also said that Germany is helping Ukraine with enough weapons. The decision to transfer this or that equipment is taken by Berlin in consultation with the allies.
