Italian citizens have to determine 600 representatives of the people – 400 representatives and 200 senators.
In Italy, voting has begun in the national parliamentary elections. Polling stations opened at 07:00 am on Sunday, September 25 and will run until 23:00.
Slightly more than 46 million citizens have the right to vote for candidates in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. In total, the Italians had to determine 600 deputies: 400 deputies and 200 senators.
70 parties and political formations are registered for the election. In order to enter parliament, individual parties must exceed the 3% threshold, and for coalitions this threshold rises to 10%.
Voting is carried out both by lists and by single-member constituencies. At the same time, it is impossible to vote for a representative of a party and at the same time not choose his party list.
Experts predict turnout around 65%.
It will be remembered that this summer in Italy, a severe political crisis erupted, which led to the resignation of Mario Draghi’s government. Correspondent.net wrote that this happened against the backdrop of a discussion of the supply of arms to Ukraine.
