EU foreign ministers also agreed to increase arms supplies to Ukraine.
EU foreign ministers agreed to prepare new sanctions against Russia and increase arms supplies to Ukraine. This was said by the head of EU foreign policy, Josep Borrell, Reuters wrote.
It was noted that after a briefing by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, the ministers agreed to instruct their teams to prepare the eighth package of sanctions, which will target “more significant sectors of economy of Russia” and continue to target the people responsible for the war of aggression in Ukraine.
EU ministers will hold their next official meeting in mid-October, when the sanctions package could be formalized.
In addition, the EU Foreign Ministers agreed to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
It should be noted that all 27 foreign ministers of the bloc are in New York for the annual meeting of world leaders at the UN.
It was previously reported that the foreign ministers of the EU countries will gather for an emergency meeting to agree on a common position on the mobilization of Russia and discuss new sanctions.
Recall that Borrell threatened the Russian Federation with new sanctions in response to “referendums” in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
