“Mining with anti-personnel mines is very common, some territories just scatter anti-personnel mines on the roads. This complicates the movement of equipment and the population. Demining is now a main work of the State Emergency Service,” he said. .

According to the spokesman, 129 sappers are currently working in the region, particularly in the occupied lands, but their ranks are replenished daily.

First of all, specialists must clear mines from roads of national and regional importance, territories under power lines, power supply facilities and other critical infrastructure, as well housing stock as well.

Only after this, the sappers will move on to demining forests, fields and rivers.

“The pollution of the water areas is quite high, the active phase of the conflict took place only around the water areas. These are complex operations, so it is difficult to estimate how long it will last, maybe several years,” concluded Primush .

It will be remembered that the police urge residents of some territorial communities of the Kharkiv region to refrain from going home and to summer cottages in the near future because of mines.
