Russian President Vladimir Putin promised on Tuesday to continue his “sovereign” foreign policy and condemned will to “hegemony” before the UN General Assembly, marked this year by Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine.
Putin sent his foreign minister Sergey Lavrovto New York and message not planned heads of the Russian state at the General Assembly this year in the context of the intervention in Ukraine.
Having received on Tuesday the credentials of the new ambassadors in Moscow, Putin made a speech which could have taken its place in the 77th edition of the assembly: “Unfortunately, the development of multipolarity is met with resistance from those who seek to maintain a hegemonic role in world affairs and seek to control everything: Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.” .
“You must clearly say: those who are in a position of hegemony have been doing well for quite some time, but this cannot go on forever. It’s impossible,” he added.
“We, Russia, will not deviate from our sovereign path. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, we intend to continue to promote a unifying international agenda and contribute to the resolution of serious regional crises,” he added.
