The telephone conversation between the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, according to media reports, took place before Erdogan’s speech at the UN General Assembly.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, September 20, had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“I spoke on the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We discussed security issues,” Zelensky wrote in Twitter.
According to the Turkish Anadolu agency, the conversation took place before Erdogan’s speech at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
There are no other details of the talks between the heads of state.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Erdogan called on all countries to support Turkey’s peace initiatives to resolve the “conflict” in Ukraine through diplomacy.
Erdogan reportedly believes after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he wants to end the war as soon as possible.
Last week, during the SCO summit, Putin said he would do everything to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.
