In the early days of the war, Ukraine turned to Moldova with a request to sell or transfer MiG-29s to its balance sheet, European Pravda sources report.
There are 6 MiG-29 fighters in Moldova, based at the air base in the village of Marculesti, in the northern part of the country. According to official data, they are all in working condition, but the planes do not fly for long. Chisinau tried to sell them for a long time, but the auction failed.
However, sources of the publication claim that Kyiv, in response to its request, received a category rejection from the Moldovan government, with the explanation that “we do not want to annoy Russia.” Moldova believes the Russian Federation will treat it as a violation of the principle of neutrality.
Recall that Moldova banned St. George ribbon, as well as the symbols Z and V, used by Russian troops during the invasion of Ukraine.
