Narendra Modi reminded his interlocutor that democracy, diplomacy and dialogue are the things that concern the world.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin to his face that now is not the time for war. On Saturday, September 17, CNN reports related to the protocol of negotiations between politicians during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan.
“I know that today is not a time of war, and we have spoken to you many times on the phone on the subject that democracy, diplomacy and dialogue are all things that have to do with peace,” the Indian leader said.
At the same time, Modi emphasized that he will definitely have another opportunity to discuss with Putin ways to return to peace.
In turn, the President of the Russian Federation, according to the channel, replied to his interlocutor that Moscow wants the war in Ukraine to end as soon as possible.
“I know about your position on the conflict in Ukraine and I know about your concerns. We want all this to end as soon as possible,” CNN quoted the Kremlin leader as saying.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense said that Putin needs to change the goals of the war in Ukraine, because the military defeat and lack of resources prove Russia’s inability to achieve its original intentions.
