The world must respond to all this: Russia repeated in Izyum what it did in Bucha, Zelensky said.
In a speech to the Ukrainian people, President Volodymyr Zelensky drew attention to the current events in the occupied Kharkiv region.
“In the Kharkiv region, investigations continue in the areas liberated from the Russian occupation. Torture chambers were found where civilians of the occupied cities and towns were abused, places where people were kept – even foreigners. In particular, seven citizens of the Republic of Sri Lanka, students of the Kupyansky medical college. In March, they were captured by Russian soldiers and then these people were hidden in the basement. Only now, after the liberation of the Kharkiv region, these people were rescued, they are receiving medical care,” the report said.
The President recalled that the exhumation of corpses continues at the mass grave site near Izyum.
“As of now, more than 440 graves have been established. It is too early to talk about the number of people buried there, investigative actions are ongoing. There is already clear evidence of torture, abuse of people … And moreover, there is evidence that Russian soldiers, whose positions are not far from these places, they shot at the graves just for fun. The world must react to all this. Russia repeated in Izyum it did in Bucha,” Zelensky said.
