Such punishment applies to civil servants who receive an enemy’s passport, as well as Russian passport organizers.
A bill on criminal liability for obtaining a Russian passport was agreed upon at a government meeting. Ukrainian civil servants can receive up to 15 years in prison. This was reported by Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.
The essence of the project is:
-
If a civil servant receives an enemy passport, he will receive imprisonment for 10 to 15 years.
-
Propaganda of enemy citizenship is punishable by five to eight years in prison.
-
Forcing Ukrainian citizens to obtain a Russian passport entails imprisonment for eight to 12 years.
-
From eight to 12 years in prison for creating conditions in which failure to obtain a Russian passport will reduce the rights of a citizen of Ukraine or otherwise put him at a disadvantage. That is, we are talking about indirect coercion.
“These changes are directed against civil servants with enemy passports and against those who directly or indirectly contribute to the Russian passport. This bill does not apply to other people,” added he.
According to him, the norms of the new law are mainly aimed at punishing the organizers of hostile passports and their henchmen. Among other things, citizens of Russia who take part in illegal passports on the territory of Ukraine are subject to punishment.
Recall that Irina Vereshchuk previously said that for participating in fake “referendums” that the Russian Federation intends to hold in the temporarily occupied territories, citizens of Ukraine face criminal prosecution.
