This fall, Ukrainian agricultural producers will reduce the area under grain crops by almost a third. This forecast was voiced by First Deputy Minister Taras Vysotsky, the press service of the ministry reports.
According to Vysotsky, winter wheat, rye, barley and rapeseed have begun to be planted in seven regions of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects farmers to reduce the area under grain crops by 25-35%.
“In the case of rye, a reduction in area should not be expected, as cultivation is focused on the domestic Ukrainian market. However, the situation is different with winter wheat and barley. Due to the blockade of the ports, there are still stocks of last year’s harvest,” Vysotsky said.
Recall that Ukraine has collected more than 25 million tons of new crops.
