In the first days, investigators discovered more than 40 war crimes committed by the occupiers.
Law enforcement agencies have returned to 40 de-occupied settlements, Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky said on Monday, September 12.
“Now our attention, of course, is to ensure normal life in the liberated territories. So far, about 40 settlements have been taken under police control, law enforcement officers are fully controlled these,” said the minister.
According to him, a large number of war crimes committed by the invaders were recorded in these communities.
“In the Kharkiv region alone, there were more than 40 war crimes recorded immediately, that is, in fact, by investigators who entered unoccupied territories,” Monastyrsky said.
The war crimes of the invaders will be told in detail in the near future.
“The time of the occupation exceeded half a year, and we understand that many traces of crimes were deliberately destroyed, but it is clear that all police forces, investigators and forensic scientists will be directed to restore the entire chain of war crimes , to identify those who committed them, and hold them accountable,” he added.
Recall that during the counter-offensive in the Kharkiv region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated several large cities – Balakleya, Kupyansk and Izyum. Dozens of villages in the region have also been evacuated.
