The creation of a security zone around the station is an urgent matter, the agency stressed.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has begun consultations on the creation of a nuclear safety zone around the Zaporozhye NPP. It was announced on September 11 by the international organization’s press service on Twitter.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, who commented on the continuation of the operation of the backup power line of the Zaporozhye NPP, noted that this is a very important step to maintain the nuclear safety of the plant, but the situation remains tense.
“A protective zone for nuclear and physical safety must be immediately created at the ZNPP; consultations on this issue have already begun,” the IAEA insisted.

It will be remembered that on September 6, the IAEA published a report on the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP, in which it called for the creation of a protective zone around the nuclear facility to prevent damage to it.
Members of the mission that inspected the plant confirmed that Russia has deployed military personnel, vehicles and equipment to various locations at the ZNPP. The IAEA also noted the existence of an expert group Rosatom.
