Citizens of the Russian Federation can no longer apply for visas to travel to Schengen countries under a simplified procedure.
From Monday, September 12, the EU Council’s decision to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with the Russian Federation will take effect. This was reported by European Truth.
According to the decision, citizens of the Russian Federation will no longer be able to issue visas for trips to the countries of the Schengen zone under a simplified procedure.
In addition, the visa processing fee is now 80 euros, instead of 35 as before, and it will require more documents. The term for issuing visas will be extended, and the issuance of multiple-entry visas will also be limited.
But, as previously reported, Russian journalists and Russians who want to enter the EU for humanitarian reasons or for family reasons will be able to get visas under simplified rules.
