Ukraine has fulfilled more than 65% of the requirements of the Association Agreement and has the ambition to fulfill all conditions before the end of this year.
Ukraine has an ambitious goal – to become a full member of the European Union within two years. This was announced on Saturday, September 10, at the YES forum by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
According to the prime minister, the Ukrainian authorities plan to fulfill the seven requirements of the European Commission by the end of 2022 to start negotiations on EU membership.

“We have fulfilled more than 65% of the requirements of the Association Agreement, we have the ambition to fulfill all the conditions by the end of this year. We have the ambition to enter the negotiation procedure and will act at a very fast pace. . We have the ambition to go through this path in a maximum of two years, to become a fully European country in the EU,” said Shmygal.
On June 23, the European Council granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. This decision was strongly supported by all EU leaders during the summit in Brussels. The expected date for Ukraine’s entry into the European Union is 2029.
It should be noted that Ukraine and the EU have signed five agreements that bring the country closer to joining the EU.
