Charles III became the new king of Great Britain. His official proclamation as a monarch took place on Saturday, September 10 in London.
Elizabeth II’s eldest son automatically inherits the throne after her death. However, the Council of Succession officially declared him as the new king of the United Kingdom just today.
The corresponding proclamation was signed in order by the next heir to the throne, Prince William, Queen Consort Camilla, President of the Council, British Prime Minister Liz Truss and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The 73-year-old Charles became the oldest monarch at the start of the reign in the history of Great Britain. He received the title from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died at Balmoral Castle on the evening of September 8.
According to protocol, the new sovereignty of Charles III was formally proclaimed by a special Board of Assumption, which met in St. James’s Palace of London on 10 September. The coronation of the monarch will take place later.
His wife Camilla received the status of queen consort. And the next heir to the throne is now the son of Charles – Prince William.

The first official singing of God Save The King was sung at the end of a memorial service for the Queen at St Paul’s Cathedral.
