Ukraine wants to receive at least $300 billion of Russian fixed assets as compensation for losses from the war.
Ukraine expects to receive at least $300 billion in reparations from Russia. This was said by the Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska, writes Deutsche Welle.
“We want compensation for all the damage that Russia has caused to Ukraine in its war of occupation,” he said.
The minister explained that the damage to Ukraine from the war is much higher, but the amount of $300 billion corresponds to the international assets of the Central Bank of Russia, which are frozen within the sanctions.
The Ministry of Justice is seeking access to these funds, as well as the foreign assets of Russian state-owned companies and the confiscated property of Russian oligarchs.
Maliuska also said that Ukraine plans to present a resolution at the September session of the UN General Assembly on the creation of a new mechanism that would make Russia pay for the aggression.
Recall that the Cabinet of Ministers developed a procedure for assessing the losses of businesses as a result of the war in the Russian Federation. It will be used both for filing claims for compensation and for preparing lawsuits against Russia.
