Latvia restricts the entry of Russian citizens with Schengen visas

The decision to ban the entry of Russians with valid Schengen visas was agreed yesterday by the Baltic countries and Poland, but further discussions are expected at the EU level.

The Latvian government has decided to restrict the entry of Russian citizens with Schengen visas into the country. This was announced on Friday by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkevics, TASS reports.

The media reported that the decision to ban Russians with valid Schengen visas was agreed yesterday by the Baltic countries and Poland, but further discussions at the EU level are expected. The text of the relevant agreements and their details will be published within 10 days after the meeting.

It was previously reported that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia agreed to significantly limit border crossings by Russian citizens with Schengen visas.
