The Ambassador of Ukraine said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine needed these vehicles for an important counter-offensive in Kherson.
Germany has refused to supply Dingo armored vehicles to Ukraine, although it has more than 500. Bild reported this on Wednesday, September 7, citing internal documents of the German Ministry of Defense.
According to the publication, in March, Ukraine applied to Germany with a request to transfer Dingo armored cars and Fennek reconnaissance vehicles, but was rejected.
It was noted that the Bundeswehr has more than 700 vehicles of the same type in operation and that they are not used in any combat operations.
Ukrainian Ambassador Andriy Melnyk said in a comment to Bild that he did not understand the government’s denial.
“We need these German Dingoes for an important counter-offensive in Kherson to save the lives of soldiers who unfortunately have to get there on foot,” he said.
Several videos from the war zone in Ukraine testify to a severe lack of armored vehicles in the Ukrainian armed forces, the newspaper wrote.
“I called on Defense Minister Lambrecht to deliver some of the 500 available armored vehicles to Ukraine in September,” Melnyk said, adding that this was definitely not a Bundeswehr theft.
Remember, on the eve it was reported that Germany gave five more Gepard anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine.
