The head of the ruling regime of the Russian Federation said that Ukraine and Europe are to blame for problems with gas supplies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Nord Stream was stopped due to an oil leak. He proposed to launch Nord Stream 2. The head of the ruling regime of the Russian Federation announced this in a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum on Wednesday, September 7.
“The last turbine is out of order, Siemens representatives came, they looked, there was an oil leak. Give us a turbine, we will open Nord Stream 1 tomorrow. They don’t give anything, they say, I use it as a weapon. What kind of weapon? what to do with it. We have pushed ourselves into the so-called sanctions impasse,” he assured.
The head of the Kremlin proposed the launch of Nord Stream 2, which was completely closed after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“There is only one way out – in Germany today we see demonstrations demanding to turn on Nord Stream 2. We share these demands of consumers in Germany. We are ready to do it tomorrow, all you have to do will press the button. But we did not impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2” “, was it under pressure from the Americans. And why did they introduce it? Because they themselves want to sell at a very high price,” Putin said .
According to him, Ukraine and European countries are to blame for the gradual decrease in gas supply in Europe. He asserts that Ukraine has “taken and killed” a string of gas pipelines under “a far-fetched pretense of not controlling it.” He also tried to convince that the Yamal-Europe pipeline system was closed by Poland.
The head of the Kremlin regime also expressed his version of the situation with the Siemens turbine, which Gazprom refuses to accept.
“Nord Stream-1 – The German partners subjected the entire technical part of the maintenance of the gas compressor turbine units to the British law. Gazprom was forced to conclude a contract for servicing these units made of Siemens, not to the central company, but to a subsidiary in the UK, which put Gazprom under sanctions. The repair of these turbines was agreed to in Canada. What do we have to do with it?” He thought.
Putin added that Canada later provided the turbine at Germany’s request, and that under an agreement with Siemens’ British subsidiary, it should be sent directly to St. Petersburg.
“Logistics has changed – we have to make changes to the contract. The British subsidiary of Siemens did not respond to Gazprom’s requests … This is our property, we must understand the legal situation, technical conditions. Nothing they are given but general conversation,” summed up the President of the Russian Federation.
