The journalists established that the pseudo-volunteer did not leave the country by himself, but with his cousin.
The son of a pro-Russian politician, lawyer Andrei Portnov, 29-year-old Igor Portnov, under the guise of a volunteer, left for Poland and never returned. This is stated in the Schemes investigation.
According to information from several independent sources with access to border crossing data, on March 22, the military administration of Lviv entered Igor Portnov into the Daan system as a person of military age who was allowed to temporarily leave the country for humanitarian aid for a period of one month.
This decision regarding Igor Portnov was made by the military administration of Lviv based on a relevant appeal from the NGO People’s Self-Defense. The next day, March 23, the politician’s son crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border at the Krakovets checkpoint. As of September 6, Igor Portnov has not yet returned to Ukraine.
Also, 23-year-old Ivan Poddubnov, the nephew of Andrei Portnov, the son of his sister Yulia Poddubnova, crossed the border with him. In his car the men left Ukraine. Ivan Poddubnov also did not return to Ukraine on September 6.
Journalists turned to Igor Portnov through three messengers asking for a comment, he read the message, but did not answer.
The Lviv regional military administration, which includes Portnov in the Way system, also commented on the departure of the politician’s son.
“We have more than 200 applications per day from public organizations to be entered into the Daan system, if translated into the number of people, it is more than 2,000 people a day who come for humanitarian aid. Unfortunately, there are many such problems. The administration does not have a verification function, opportunities how to check it,” said Yuriy Buchko, deputy chairman of Lviv OVA.
It will be remembered that Portnov himself left Ukraine on June 3 through a checkpoint in the Transcarpathian region.
