The President of the Russian Federation said that he will instruct the Foreign Ministry to do away with visas for foreign tourists, and not on the basis of reciprocity.
Russia is ready to introduce a visa-free regime for foreigners without equal. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on this topic at a meeting of the State Council, reported Tuesday, September 6, RosSMI.
“I would suggest not talking about specific countries… there is no need to impose anything on anyone, you just need to talk about bilateral cooperation. We need to consult with the Foreign Ministry about the establishment of a visa-free regime. Some there are already visa-free trips, why mention them. Only the Foreign Ministry will entrust…” Putin said.
At the same time, according to the head of the Kremlin, in this case “he did not stick to reciprocity.”
“I know that the Foreign Ministry has a general principle – the principle of reciprocity. Here, when it comes to ensuring our interests, we have to use principles when it is to our advantage,” Putin replied.
Recall that the European Commission has now approved the complication of the Russian visa regime. Now Russians face a longer, more expensive and more complicated process of obtaining a Schengen visa.
It was also reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry requested more than 50 visas from the United States, but it was rejected.
