The party asked to cancel the decision of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal to ban its activities.
The Supreme Court finally banned the activities of the Sharia Party on the territory of Ukraine at the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice. The press service of the court reported this on Tuesday, September 6.
“The Supreme Court, as part of a panel of judges of the Administrative Court of Cassation, on Tuesday reviewed the appeal case No. П/857/1/22, in which the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine asked the court to ban the activities of the Sharia Party political party,” the report said.
It is indicated that in his appeal the party requested to cancel the decision of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal, which satisfied the claims of the Ministry of Justice. The court then banned the activities of the Sharia Party and transferred the property, funds and other assets of this party and all its structural formations to state ownership.
As a result, the Supreme Court adopted a decision, which did not satisfy the appeal of the Sharia Party, and the decision of the first instance – was not changed.
“The decision is final and not subject to appeal,” the court said, adding that the full text of the decision with part of the reasoning will be made public within five days.
As you know, the SBU suspects Anatoly Shariy – the head of the party, who is not a member of it – of treason and inciting inter-ethnic and inter-confessional conflicts.
Recall that the SBU put Shariy on the state’s wanted list, despite the fact that he has been living abroad for many years. At the same time, earlier the SBU itself submitted a notification to the CEC that Shariy did not live in Ukraine for a long time.
In May of this year, Shariy was imprisoned in Spain, but was soon released on bail and settled in this country. He will await the extradition order.
