The actions of the Ukrainian military thwarted the Russian Federation’s plans to hold a so-called “referendum” in the occupied territories.
The Ukrainian counter-offensive has significantly weakened Russia’s logistical and administrative capabilities in occupied southern Ukraine. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for the 5th of September.
It was noted that the Ukrainian troops are conducting targeted strikes on accumulations of manpower and equipment, command centers and logistics hubs of the enemy, aiming to weaken its rear capabilities in the southern direction.
ISW recalled that the so-called “deputy head of administration” of the Kherson region, Kirill Stremousov, told the Russian TASS agency about stopping the holding of the pseudo-referendum in the Kherson region for “security reasons.”
However, the collaborator said that “everything is going according to plan” and the date of the “referendum” has not been set.
“Both of Stremousov’s statements refer to a high level of disorganization within the occupation regimes, which is likely to have been exacerbated by the consequences of the counter-offensive. Ukrainian troops aim to slowly reduce the capabilities of the of Russia’s tactical and operational presence in the Kherson region, and this is likely to have a significant impact on the administrative and bureaucratic capabilities of the occupiers “, analysts said.
