Ukraine and the EU signed five agreements at the same time, which brings our country closer to joining the European Union and contributes to the stability of our state in the war against the Russian aggressor. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal.
The prime minister gave some details about the signed documents.
The agreement on Ukraine’s participation in the EU Digital Europe program (2021-2027) is part of the digital visa-free regime from the EU. The Digital Europe Program has a budget of 7.5 billion euros for the development of projects in five areas: supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital skills, ensuring the widespread use of digital technologies in the economy and society.
Agreement on the participation of Ukraine in the EU program for cooperation in the customs area.
“From October 1, a customs visa-free regime with the EU will open. After signing the Agreement today, Ukraine will join the program of cooperation in the customs sphere with a budget of about 1 billion euros. Will be improved it is the skills of our customs officials, participate in the development and use of European electronic systems,” wrote the prime minister.
The agreement on the participation of Ukraine in the EU tax cooperation program Fiscalis will allow the State Tax Service of Ukraine to exchange information with colleagues from the EU, and it will also be possible to use modern European IT systems in the field of taxation.
Agreement on the provision of budget support to Ukraine for 500 million euros.
“The funds have been allocated and will be used to provide housing for internally displaced people, as well as to support small farmers so they can continue and develop their business,” Shmyhal said.
The agreement, thanks to which the European Commission increases the budget for grants for Ukraine by 122 million euros, will ensure funding for priority projects for Ukraine and accelerate their adoption due to the fact that the grants can be given directly to state authorities, local governments and public organizations.
“All five agreements are an important element of our two-year plan for integration with the European Union, as well as an extraordinary step in Europe’s solidarity with Ukraine in this war,” the prime minister emphasized.
