In Ukraine, the incidence of COVID-19 and the number of hospitalizations due to the disease are gradually increasing.
Currently, 11.5 thousand cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Ukraine, more than three thousand patients are in hospitals. Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin said this on Sunday, September 4, in an interview with Ukrinform.
“We are seeing the beginning of an increase in incidence, and this is the beginning of the autumn wave, which is the base. We are gradually registering more and more indicators in terms of the number of patients. For example, last week it was 9.1 thousand, now it is 11.5 thousand people. It is expected, for the third consecutive year in September there is an increase in the incidence of COVID-19, and it will begin to subside in March-April, and perhaps in early May, ” Kuzin said.
Speaking about the growth of the disease, he emphasized that the issue of hospitalization of such patients remains important.
“And this number is growing. Last week, it was 2.6 thousand, now about 3.1 thousand patients are hospitalized with a diagnosis of COVID-19 in a week,” he said.
Kuzin noted that the number of tests of patients with suspected coronavirus is also increasing. He also assured that there is an adequate testing system in the country.
“PCR systems are available for 1.3 million tests, the same number is reserved. This should be enough until the first quarter of 2023. Also, about 1.7 million rapid tests are available at the primary care level. They will last until the end of 2022,” he said.
Since the beginning of 2022, more than one million people have died worldwide due to the effects of the COVID-19 infection. This is what the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) said.
Recall that in August Ukraine received 100,000 doses of the Janssen coronavirus vaccine. The batch was distributed and delivered to 21 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv.
