Since the start of the full Russian invasion, phytosanitary and veterinary control at the Polish border has slowed down several times, Nyeem said.
The situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border is becoming critical and could turn into a disaster. The reason lies in the low efficiency of the Polish phytosanitary and veterinary control services. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mustafa Nayem wrote about it on his Telegram channel.
“Queue. Kilometer long. Many days. This week, a historical record was broken: a line of trucks at the Yagodin checkpoint on the Polish border crossed the border 45 (!) Kilometers … Drivers live on the side near the checkpoints, in terrible conditions, weeks, and more, losing income,” said Nayem.
According to Nayem, this situation developed because of the Polish side.
“The main reason for these queues is known to everyone – it is the low efficiency of the work of the Polish services that carry out phytosanitary and veterinary control. Not only carriers know about this, but also representatives of the same regulatory authorities in the same country. But for some reason they talk about it in a whisper so that no one can be offended. It seems to me that by not recognizing the problem, we are only making it worse,” Nayem wrote.
“Little entry” into the EU. Ukraine introduced customs visa-free
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, phytosanitary and veterinary control at the Polish border has slowed down several times.
He cited data from the Dorogusk checkpoint as an example. If until February 24, the Polish phytosanitary and veterinary services received about 80 trucks per day, then in the last days of August from 12 to 25 trucks.
“This is not just a decrease in the speed of services. This is a disaster! People have been living at the border for a week or more. And this is happening exactly when our producers are almost cut off from sea and air traffic and the bulk of our goods travel on roads,” said the deputy minister. .
It was previously reported that pilot projects will continue at Ukrainian-Polish border checkpoints from September 1 to September 31, providing for changes in the organization of car traffic.
