Due to the lack of places to live and financial resources, more and more cities, communities and even federal states in Germany are forced to stop accepting Ukrainians.
Some German federal states fear that in the near future they will reach the limit of their ability to accept and receive refugees from Ukraine. Against this background, 12 of the 16 federal states have announced a temporary suspension of the entry of refugees under the main distribution system. This was reported on Saturday, September 3, by the publications of the group Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND), citing the response from the press service of the German Interior Ministry to a request from the editors.
According to the German Interior Ministry, more than 980,000 Ukrainian refugees are registered in the country today, who arrived in Germany after the start of a full-scale war.
“The Ministry is aware that many federal states have expressed concern that they are about to reach the limit of their capacity (to receive refugees. – Ed.), – including due to the increase in the number of people arriving in Germany along the “Balkan route”, – confirmed in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany.
Meanwhile, the distribution of refugees among federal states is still possible, as large states continue to accept them for now, the ministry added.
The two Länder have exhausted the possibilities for providing social assistance
Earlier, the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote that communities in the states of Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia had stopped accepting refugees because the number of people registered there who could qualify for social assistance had been exhausted.
In this regard, the Prime Minister of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, warned at the end of August that the gyms could be used again to accommodate refugees.
“We have already received more refugees than during the crisis of 2015. The population (of Germany. – Ed.) must prepare for the fact that we will again find ourselves in a difficult situation,” he stressed.
Difficulties in the distribution and integration of refugees
The Minister of the Interior of Saxony, Armin Schuster, sent a letter to the Minister of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Feser, in which he pointed out the difficulties in the distribution and integration of refugees. At the same time, he recalled the recent attempt by unknown people to set fire to a kindergarten in Leipzig, which was attended, among other things, by the children of Ukrainian refugees.
At the same time, the Minister of the Interior of Bavaria, the chairman of the Conference of Ministers of the Interior of the federal states of Germany Joachim Herrmann (Joachim Herrmann) told the RND that at the moment Bavaria still has the capacity that received refugees, but “more and more places for their accommodation are filled.”
In his opinion, the cause of housing problems is not only the large number of refugees from Ukraine, but also the asylum programs actively promoted by the new government in Germany.
