Oleksiy Makeev, a diplomat, will become Ukraine’s new ambassador to Germany. This was reported by the German edition of Welt am Sonntag, citing sources on Saturday, September 3.
It is indicated that the Ukrainian authorities have submitted the corresponding application to the federal government and the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has agreed to the candidacy of Oleksiy Makeev for the position of the new Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany. He signed a formal agreement. The new ambassador will assume his duties on October 15.
Oleksiy Makeev is the special representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on sanctions policy. The 46-year-old diplomat studied international relations at Kiev State University and entered the diplomatic service at the age of 21. Recall that in early July, President Volodymyr Zelensky removed Andriy Melnyk from the position of Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, who held this position since 2014.
Recently, Melnik became famous thanks to a number of annoying statements. At the same time, he was called the most prominent diplomat in Berlin.
