A large black-and-white portrait of the first and last president of the USSR was placed in the casket, Gorbachev’s state awards were displayed, and an honor guard was on duty. There were many wreaths with mourning ribbons in the hall.
Prominent politicians, journalists, actors, public figures, including friends and spoke with Gorbachev, and representatives of the diplomatic corps came to see the former president of the USSR on his last trip.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also visited the House of Unions. His cortege drove up to the main entrance of the building and the politician hurried inside.
“The Hungarian Prime Minister stayed inside the building for about 10 minutes. He, together with the members of his country’s delegation with white roses in their hands, entered the hall, approached the daughter and Gorbachev’s grandson sitting on the coffin, expressed his condolences to them. . The media also reported that Orban had no personal meetings scheduled.
Mikhail Gorbachev will be buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery next to his wife Raisa, who died in September 1999.
