The greatest support for the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine is observed among older age groups – 85%.
By the end of August 2022, 76% of Russian citizens support the war in Ukraine, which is called a special operation in Russia. This was confirmed by the results of a Levada Center poll on August 25-31.
“The level of support for the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine did not change during the summer months: 46% “definitely support” the actions of the Russian armed forces and another 30% “instead of support”. They do not support – a total of 17% of respondents,” said the report.
It was noted that the greatest support for the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine is observed among older age groups – 85%.
In response to the question of whether it is necessary to continue the hostilities or continue negotiations, society is almost evenly divided: about half of Russians (48%) believe that the hostilities should continue, slightly less (44%) peace negotiations must begin.
A third of the respondents believe that people like them are morally responsible for the death of civilians and destruction in Ukraine: 10% believe that they “certainly do”, 23% – “in some extent”. The opposite position is taken by 60% of respondents. It is known that since May there has been no significant change in this issue.
Recall that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with students in Kaliningrad on September 1, said that Ukraine did not exist before the formation of the USSR, and that the purpose of the Russian war against Ukraine was ” stop the war taking place in Donbas since 2014 and to protect Russia.”
