The Permanent Representative of France to the UN and President of the Security Council in September, Nicolas de Rivière, said in a press conference that the Council will hold a ministerial meeting on September 22 “on the crisis in Ukraine, led by the French Foreign Minister, on impunity. and justice.”
He also noted that the IAEA must fully fulfill its mandate in Ukraine.
According to him, the Russian Federation has asked for a meeting on this issue, and the Council will discuss it in the coming days.
The UN added that all the ministers of the member countries of the Council will be invited, there will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba.
Riviere noted that the speech of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky before the Council is possible if the head of state himself wants it.
In addition, the Council will hold a meeting on 7 September on the forced departure from Ukraine.
Recall that the UN has said that they support any IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, if it is conducted from Kyiv.
In addition, Kyiv said that IAEA specialists will be able to reach the Zaporozhye NPP only through government-controlled territory.
